![]() ![]() In a statement on January 27, 2022, Spotify explained, “We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid since the start of the pandemic.” Over 110 Joe Rogan episodes have been removed from Spotify for various reasons. This tension arises in a period when private companies, like Spotify, are struggling to balance embracing differing opinions with protecting against Covid-19-related misinformation. Neil Young’s public letter, which was removed shortly after posting, stated, “I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines-potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them.” He proceeded to declare, “They can have Rogan or Young. In his episodes, Joe Rogan has often criticized vaccine effectiveness and spread the idea that hospitals are financially motivated to falsely assign Covid-19 as the cause of deaths. Allegedly, Joe Rogan signed a $100 million exclusive podcasting deal with Spotify in 2020. Neil Young’s objective was to disassociate from the streaming service that provides a platform for comedian and actor, Joe Rogan, whose podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” is currently Spotify’s most popular podcast. It’s a great honor to be recognized by our peers and partners in the industry, and a major kick to add a twelfth TEC to our collection.On January 25, 2022, Neil Young posted a public letter addressed to his record label, Reprise Records, requesting immediate removal of his music from Spotify. WSDG Founding Partner John Storyk concludes, “We are grateful to accept this award for our work on Spotify at Mateo. SPL was also responsible for the podcast AV systems. All of the rooms have multiple windows for access to natural light and greenery and were created by WSDG in a seamless systems design collaboration with SPL to assure flawless acoustics. This includes Spotify’s Flagship Podcast Studio D, as well as 15 additional podcast studios, two production rooms, and three artist lounges. WSDG also developed the acoustics for the onsite screening room, event hall, and three listening rooms in Building Two.īuilding Four’s ‘Pod City’ is a honeycombed collection of spaces created specifically for podcasting. Studio A also features an innovative set of hinged panels to provide variable acoustic conditions within the spaces and a purpose-designed echo chamber. Both studios share a purpose-designed echo chamber. Studio B is equipped with an Avid S4 24-fader Control Surface with Dolby Atmos mix capability. Studio A features a 48-channel Rupert Neve Designs Shelford 5088 console. The overall campus was designed by LA design collective RIOS, with studio design, electroacoustics, A/V systems design, and production lighting by WSDG.īuilding One includes a pair of full-featured recording studios, A and B, and a podcast recording studio. Additionally, communal listening and performance spaces were also required. Designed as an immersive, all-in-one experience with every aspect of music and podcast production, post-production, and performance under one roof, Spotify at Mateo required a wide variety of recording and production spaces to be utilized by both visiting artists and Spotify’s in-house team of creators and producers. The 150,000 sq ft campus is located in the heart of LA’s historic Arts District and serves as Spotify’s flagship destination for their rapidly growing content creation division as well as a crucial artistic hub for LA’s podcast and music professionals.
